Question: Is tony stewart a good guy as far as a nascar driver goes? (Posted by: JDUBYA! on 2010-01-09 04:33:31) I think he could be if he could take some responsibility once in a while. I know he's a CUP Champion and all but c'mon folks he's not the only driver out there. http:/ / www.youtube.com/ watch?v=oNC694Ew90c &NR=1 |

Posted by: Nitro39 on 2010-01-09, 18:30:55 I liked him in 99 and 00, hated him in 2001 when he turned Gordon like he did at Bristol, endangering several pit crew members, gained sympathy for him the following year when he overcame injuries at Darlington to win the championship, and became a fan in 2003 and onward. He does not come across as someone with a stable personal life, taking from his disheveled appearance and his marital status at 38, but then if I were interested in his offtrack performances I wouldn't be a true fan of the sport. He's great as a NASCAR driver because he's one of the few who would give his right arm for racing. He's been in every kind of racer from a sprint car to an indy car. He'd be nothing without racing. Being a driver is his entire personality, and it's good for NASCAR to have guys like Stewart to remind the fans that the sport is about racing as much as it is about marketability and corporate sponsorship. As far as taking responsibility, he's doing better than his former teammates at JGR. |

Posted by: NYR and Dale Jr. fan = Matt on 2010-01-09, 05:58:26 I like Stewart as a driver, but as a person, there's still room for improvement. Either he blames someone else or he goes out of his way to pity himself, like at the Coke Zero 400 last July when he constantly kept blaming himself in the victory lane interview. Tony, we get, you wrecked him unintentionally. Now just shut up and celebrate. |

Posted by: butterball on 2010-01-09, 09:38:36 Tony is a good guy he tells it as he see's it. Tony also has come along way with toning it down. People deal with things differently that doe'snt make him a bad guy. Tony has also given alot of money to charity if you watch you will hear that. |

Posted by: Tbone on 2010-01-09, 13:28:53 Tony hasn't toned down crap. ALA JR, Montoya and his tirade about being asked about Jeff Gordon. Please... He just hasn't been agitated as many times lately. Too many mute mouth wusses out there lately. As much as some of these jerk-offs around here go off on Smoke and Kyle they would be bored to death if they weren't part of NASCAR. |

Posted by: fluffy on 2010-01-09, 19:40:54 Put it this way. There's a reason why Tony Stewart had his own radio show, and there is a reason why Tony did such a great job in the first year as an owner/ driver "feelings don't win races ", and Tony Stewart can put on quite a show for the fans. And that's all that should really matter. Tony Stewart is the "real deal ", and sometimes being a "good guy " might just put you in the ranks with Michael Waltrip, and Kyle Petty, ...or even Mark Martin |
