Whoaaaa.. What is this about? I've been kinda stoked about seeing the #4 car back in NASCAR again.. but wait.. theres drama about! Does this have anything to do w/ the Morgan- McClure owners not being happy w/ the number swap? Surely Stewart didn't do this just to keep them happy and give up the #4.. That's just not Stewarts MO. I think that alone makes it official.

Stewart said on is radio show that if Morgan-McClure Motorsports decided it could return to the Sprint Cup Series next season, he wanted the Virginia-based team to be able to continue to use its No. 4. He picked his car number because it was special to him and he knew the No. 39 was special to Newman. Newman's first-ever USAC midget win came in the No. 39 car.

I have no idea. I knew that MMM wasn't happy with the #4 announcement but Tony giving it up possibly because of that...mmm...somethings up with that.

I guess Tony decided to respect MMM's wishes and switch to a different number. As soon as I read about it, I just knew that is what happened. And for the last time, Jayski got it from Tony's radio show, so it is true.

You are right, i just read it on nascar.com i wish they wouldn't have confused fans, they should have never even mentioned the 4 when Stewart announced Newman as his driver in the press conference,,if they had any doubt.
