Question: How many nascar fans watched the superbowl? (Posted by: know it all on 2010-02-07 22:22:10) What was your favorite superbowl commercial? there were a lot of really good ones this year, the one with brett favre cracked me up. also, just so some idiot doesn't start whining and crying because this question doesn't belong in the NASCAR section, what do you think of the front row qualifiers racing in thursday's twin 150's? i mean, their starting positions are already set, why take a chance on wrecking their daytona 500 cars in a race that doesn't count and will be completely forgotten about by sunday? my thoughts on the who doing the halftime show were that, do you think the NFL googled "bands that haven't had a hit song in 30 years "? they seem to hire bands every year that are 20+ years past their prime to do the halftime show. they should have switched up and let the who sing the national anthem and carrie underwood do the halftime show. she is much more current and relavent, seeing as she has 2 monster hit songs from her new album on the charts right now. good point about the extra practice hawgdog what's with all the hatin' on my girl carrie underwood? she has a much better singing voice than rogerv daultry or pete townsend ever dreamed of having. http:/ / www.youtube.com/ watch?v=y_SR3BlsmH4 oopsd, i don't think i'm able to post a link because i'm a level 1 dirtbag. i thought this was the best group of superbowl commercials in many years. there were 10 or 12 of them that i thought were really great. the simpsons coke commercial, with the coke exploding in homers face, the doritos commercial with the little boy and his mom's new boyfriend, the bud light commercial with the fireball barreling toward earth. all instant classics. |

Posted by: Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Maggie on 2010-02-08, 06:54:47 No I did not watch the Super Bowl. I just never much got into it. However, I told my son that the Saints would beat the Colts by 15 points at least...and he laughed at that. I should have bet money. I understand what you are saying about the line up for the duels. But this is what drivers do...drive fast and take chances. Maybe they should hold the Duels AFTER the Daytona 500. That way everyone starts with fresh cars for the 500. |

Posted by: Hawgdog on 2010-02-07, 22:31:01 It's another chance to see how the cars run at speed in traffic so that they can make changes for the 500 yes it's taking a big chance, but it's also like an extra test session |

Posted by: newmom on 2010-02-07, 22:35:42 To answer your first question I did not watch the superbowl. Sorta forgot it was even on. As far as your next question goes, my husband and I were wondering the same thing. What do Mark and Jr get out of it other than bragging rights if they win? Is that worth possibly wrecking your 500 car? Seems risky since all of those other guys are fighting for their starting positions or fighting to get in the race. |

Posted by: Love The Beast Falcon XB GT on 2010-02-07, 22:49:40 I watched it! The best part was when "The Who " played but then I realized it wasn't as good as Springsteen or Prince or Tom Petty. Then I felt like a Nascar whiner that compares every race saying it sucked instead of just enjoying the race. Then my friend turned to me and asked "who one the Daytona 500 last night " and I was appalled and had to explain about how it was the Bud Shootout and he had to come to my house next Sunday for "The 500 ". Then I ate his free hot wings and cold shrimp. LMFAO. I'm reluctantly still skiddish about Jr. after the shootout. But Martin's going to have a fun Thursday no matter what. Looking forward to the whole Roush, Yates, Petty package. THE WHO is relevent because that's the theme song for the TV show CSI. which network are they on!? I would have rather seen Carrie Underwood too myself. |

Posted by: dogbert03 on 2010-02-07, 23:04:27 I did get to watch the game. There were some ok commercials, but I didn't like them as much as previous years. The house made of Bud Light cans/ bottles was funny, and I liked the Coke commercial with the Simpsons. As far as the twin 150's, I don't think it can hurt to get more laps in before the Daytona 500. They can use it as a practice without worrying about starting position. |

Posted by: Jeff S on 2010-02-07, 23:51:52 I definitely watched it. I just had to see Peyton Manning once again show he's not good for the big game again, despite the fact that nearly everything has been handed to him on a silver platter. Plus, I'm a big Purdue Boilermakers fan, and Drew Brees is one of, if not the best to ever come out of that football program. As for commercials, I actually thought this was a very weak year. My favorite commercial was probably the Intel robot commercial. I actually can't remember any of the others off the top of my head, I'll have to go to hulu.lol Actually, I do now remember the Brett Favre commercial, but I think that whole issue is too played out already, didn't he just do a Sears commercial on the same subject?lol |

Posted by: lilAudrey on 2010-02-08, 00:14:27 Yes I watched the Superbowl! Wish my team had won! Commercials? Gotta go with the Brett commercial too! And as for Thursdays Twin Race... No it don't seem necessary. Still yet I'm glad they have it cuz it's sooo fun to watch! Maybe they should change it, let the drivers make a choice of whether they wanna run in it or not. Ya think? |

Posted by: mbl on 2010-02-08, 05:31:31 I'm one of the few people who watch the game for the game and not the commercials. I treat Super Bowl commercials like other commercials - with a quick channel change. Most of the ones I saw were pathetic attempts by someone trying to be funny who just isn't funny. I thought the halftime show was fine. Personally I'd rather listen to my neighbors dogs bark than have to hear Carrie Underwood or any of the other main stream garbage music that is out these days. I'm not a Who fan but anything is better than than Carrie Underwood. You really think she'd have a music career if she were average looking? To quote Jeff Foxworthy: "You guys remember when there was more to having a music career than just being good looking? " |

Posted by: robo on 2010-02-08, 05:53:57 Game: I watched it thought it was a good game. Commercials: Dorito's and the dog collar but didn't really like any of them. Halftime: The Who Sucked they are to old to still be singing. Thursday Racing: No it is not neccessary for the front to compete, but their is greed for money. |

Posted by: Biner on 2010-02-08, 10:09:21 No superbowl for me. I only watched the halftime show featuring one of the most influential band's in the history of rock & roll and not a karaoke singer. My Superbowl get's underway on February 14th. |

Posted by: the blue duece on 2010-02-08, 10:29:52 Actaully i had a date with a hottie and missed part of the superbowl, but i did get to see the lasat quarter which i liked very much.really didnt pay much attetrion to the commercials.the only one that really sticks out is the one where the guys were in the gym and the one threw a dorrito like it was a ninja star and stuck it in the other guys neck.the one with the longhorn calf and the young horse was good to. as far as the twins are concerned,i really dont like them having to use their daytona cars.wish they could use a throwaway like in the shootout. |
