Question: How many nascar fans have experienced "snowmageddon"?

(Posted by: fluffy on 2010-02-07 09:04:51)

I'm going to leave this question posted until people have a chance to tell us their stories. I have been thu Flagstaff travelling Northbound on I- 17 from Mexicali to MN, via Garden Of Gods, CO. It's amazing how the lanscape, on I- 70 changes from cactus plants, to "Christmas trees ", on the way into Flagstaff.

I live in Southern Virginia, so I missed out on the big stuff with this most recent storm. We got about 3 inches of snow here this past weekend, with 8 inches of snow the previous weekend. We have had a couple other events this winter with only a couple inches of snow here and there. We have probably gotten about 13-14 inches total this winter. I'm pretty happy, because I love winters in Virginia. I think it's been since 2004 since we have actually had a winter. Generally I'm wearing shorts on Christmas Day, which doesn't feel right to me.

I live in Az now, so I missed this one, but I used to live in Minni-Snowda, so I have lived though many of them 2 feet of snow means very little up there, and doesn't shut the city down While I live at 4,000 feet, and see very little snow, except on the mountains around us, Flagstaff is just 40 miles North of us, and they do get real winters, when the last storm came through, a week and a half ago, they got over 3 feet of snow up there, and it did shut everything down, including 1-17 and 1-40. Too many idiots here, that don't know how to drive in snow.

It hit Northern Virginia harder than it hit us--which is weird, since we live in the SWVA mountains you'd think we'd be the ones getting hammered--but we still got 6 inches of snow, on top of the 8 we got last weekend, and some ice on top of that. I've just been trying to dig out my car. I need a sledgehammer, not a shovel :P

I've lived in 5 different states (Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Colorado, Wyoming and Utah) All of those states get snow. I've lived through noreasters, blizzards, white out conditions, and the National Guard having to come and help with snow removal. I've had to use a snow shovel to unburry my car that was covered in 3 feet of snow. I've had to walk on the side of the road, because I couldn't find where the sidewalk was supposed to be. I've had to walk to and from school..fifteen miles, in fifteen feet of snow, barefoot, uphill, both ways. (couldn't resist) Okay, it was more like a mile and a half in 2 feet, but still..frozen crypt keeper fingers, soggy socks and Aqua Net drenched hair was still not fun. I got frostbite on my ear when I was 15. I'm currently wishing I lived somewhere warm...mmmm...warm. I hate it when it knocks out power though. That bugs..

31.5 inches yes that is about 2 and a half feet of snow here in Maryland and we are expecting 10-12 more inches tomorrow. Worst winter ever they say in 100+ year. I wish I were down in daytona in the sun for some nascar!
