Question: Do you agree with kyle petty when he says that danica patrick is only in nascar because of her markability?

Kyle Petty says that Danica Patrick is only in NASCAR because of her markability, not because of her skill as a driver. You're right Kyle, those slots are for untalented sons of great racers, damn it , not because of her skill as a driver.

Partially true! She is coming to Nascar because of her marketability. There is much more money to be made in Nascar than the series she is currently driving in. But for him to say that her skill as a driver has nothing to do with it is sure a statement he should stay away from.

Kyle stayed in Nascar because of his name .. not how he drove ... its time to break out something new

Its partially true. Middle of the pack IRL drivers aren't normally offered ride in good Nascar equipment. But it isn't like she doesn't have talent. And yes, it is ironic to hear that from Kyle Petty. But hey, the guy did win some races so he proved he belonged there.

Yes i agree(although i cant stand kyle petty). Jr brought her to nascar to fatten his wallet and hers........he just beat the rest of the teams to her. does she have talent?..........sure,she can drive an open wheel car with only 20 other cars on the track. lets see how she does with 42 other cars on the track,of which are bumping and hitting each other. lets see her slap one of the nascar drivers like she did scott sharp.dont think that will fly to well on pit road in a nascar race.

I don't know what you read, the quote I read from him said, " "I've said it from the very beginning, she is an incredibly talented driver. Can this be huge for her and for NASCAR? Yes, it can, " Petty said Saturday. "Obviously, open wheel built what the sport is now off of her because it was a floundering sport. They took her and that marketing machine that she is and they went there. " " "incredibly talented driver " doesn't sound like someone is there "only in NASCAR because of her markability? " he acknowledged her marketability, but also calls her incredibly talented.

No she is a racer. She may be taking and advantage of her marketability but she's not in NASCAR because of her marketability. If she wanted to she could be a full time model. The same could be said about Kyle Petty being in NASCAR because of his marketability since his dad was Richard Petty. I think Kyle Petty is just a little jealous that he was a failure in NASCAR. I honestly think that Danica will be more successful than Kyle Petty and when it happens he will be eating his words.

Yeah who's Kyle Petty to be talking? I don't think there is much difference in Danica coming in now and Juan Pablo coming in when he did. People were saying the same types of things with the only difference of course being gender. Who cares if it is for "marketability " anyway? I don't. I mean if you bring her in for 2 or 3 years and see what she's got and she doesn't work out then at least everyone knows. I don't think its fair to hold it against Danica Patrick because some people dont think she has the talent. People are going to always say things about drivers these days in NASCAR and either they have talent but they arent marketable or they are marketable but have no talent. So she fits in with everyone else just fine in my opinion. Bring on the chick and lets see what she can do. At least we will have something to look at for awhile.

I think you need a remedial course on reading comprehension because you read something else into his comments. Hawk M's comments are pretty well in line with mine. Furthermore, it takes some serious talent to win just ONE NASCAR race. Petty won 8....

No matter where she finishes or how many times she wrecks, she will always find sponsors and make a bunch of money. I agree with Kyle, but if I was her, I couldn't call my career complete unless I didn't give Nascar a shot. Seems like a bunch of open wheel racers are looking to give Nascar a go.

It's all about the greenbacks. She'll make more in NASCAR than IRL for sure. And why anybody would listen to a driver like Kyle i wouldn't know. He can't drive !!!!! I bet she drives better than he did.

This gal should not be associated with Nascar whatsoever..first of all, she didn't have any idea how to get in the car..most absurd thing ever to happen to a fine sport..but can understand it due to the elements that brought her in..more trinket sales...Nascar in the past use to be about driver ability, courage, will to win..anymore trinkets sales from China, personality, cuteness is what makes a great driver..going to be a terrific laundry problem when she looks in her rear view and see's Kyle..she is in a contact sport now...about like the NFL playing against kids Pee Wee league football.

She is talented but i think she came because nascar is twice as big as the IRl and she can get so much more money in Nascar and nascar teams know that.

I feel that one of the main reasons she came over IS because she is hoping that the stereotypical redneck, beer drinking male will buy her stuff b/ c of how she looks. If she was as talented as people think than she wouldn't objectify herself. I mean half of her ads are skimpy clothes and bathingsuits. You don't see some of the better looking male drivers sporting their six pack abs and ripped arms, do you? I agree that she is wanting to try NASCAR but I think that she doesn't have the nerve and fearlessness to be a top 15 driver.

I basically agree with Ham Bone...but, why do the start and park drivers keep coming back? How about those who are in the lower positions keep coming back? And don't forget the slots for the past champions and past winners and past provisional. And maybe the future provisional?

Don't forget, the 'failure' Kyle Petty had 8 wins and was in the top 10 in points for about 3-4 years....

It's kind of funny that all of the newer fans think Kyle Petty is nothing more than a backmarker. He almost won the championship in 1993. The only reason he didn't do good towards the end of his career is simply because his equipment wasn't up to par. He was probably burnt out as a driver by at least 2006 though. If he hadn't gone to Petty Enterprises in 1997 and went to a competitive team instead, I think it'd be a safe bet he'd have more wins. But like any good father, he was thinking of his son Adam's future and wanted to make sure he had a place to race when he got to Cup. Unfortunately, he never did because of the tragedy that happened on 5/ 12/ 00. RIP Adam. :( As for Danica, I do agree that she's only here because of marketability. She got her only win in IRL the same way Casey Mears did in Cup as well as Nationwide, she was in the right position due to fuel mileage. If she weren't GoDaddy's poster girl, she wouldn't be in NASCAR.

I agree, but that is part of the sport, a BIG part. If she wins, all this will go away. If she loses, she will be out of the sport.

I usually don't agree or like Kyle Petty, but the answer is yes...
