Question: Is there any chance that nascar fans will ever respect kyle busch? (Posted by: Jrh88er on 2010-02-02 08:09:31) Kyle has shown great philanthropy despite having much less money that the top names in the sport. He never hesitates to help kids in need and share his wealth and resources. Yet the only thing people can focus on is Richmond spring race 2008, that was ONE race, ONE incident. What should Kyle have done? Pull over and let the 88 go on by? I'm sure Dale Sr would have raced equally as hard as Kyle did. It seems that if it were not for double standards in NASCAR there would be no standards; still the questions remains: will Kyle ever be respected? |

Posted by: It'sSupercharged!2000 on 2010-02-02, 13:57:05 Well done. You are one small step towards getting a life. You've moved on, taken my advice, and made a question about your driver. At least, it seems that you tried to. It is just another Jr. question, masked as one about Kyle. For starters, don't make it sound like Kyle is a poor soul who can barely pay for his own meals, and then helping out a young man with a job. He has plenty of money, and if you read the recent story. It wasn't charity. That young man is working for his pay. I'm not knocking Kyle there, it is a good thought. Most drivers give to charities and help those in need. Let's not get our panties in a twist because Kyle did something good. The other answers have shown that your second point is moot. It seems like most people are concentrating on his lack of respect for Sam Bass's hard work, and his arrogance. I saw a rerun recently. It was from 2009, in either the Truck or Nationwide race at Marty. Kyle finished in the top 10 I believe, and then he jumped the fence in turn 4, and walked out. Good form Kyle, good form. It isn't one race or one incident that has turned fans against Kyle, it is innumerable races and incidents that have turned us away. So, Kyle will gain my respect, when he respects the fans for what we are. We give our money to see these drivers give it their all, and to accept that sometimes, their all just isn't enough. They need to deal with it, and no one likes too see a sore loser. Before I go, have you ever actually met Kyle? I'm sure it will be a fun experience for you. If he actually acknowledges your presence that is... |

Posted by: 1selkie on 2010-02-02, 08:49:58 I don't think that one incident ruined Kyle's reputation for everybody. It's his attitude sometimes; the way he does his interviews (or doesn't, if something goes badly for him), the guitar-smashing episode that some people saw as a lack of respect, etc... I think he will be respected as he matures. From what I've heard, like you said, he's a nice guy behind the scenes. It just doesn't show on the track yet. |

Posted by: Aaron on 2010-02-02, 08:50:40 I'm not a JR fan or a Kyle Busch fan, so I'm not speaking of that incident. I think Kyle Busch is an arrogant idiot, and until he starts to act more mature, I am not going to like him. He thinks he is supposed to win every week, and he doesn't know that finishing 2nd does happen to most people. I still think he was an idiot for smashing that guitar. I don't care what anyone says, if someone puts their heart and soul and time in creating something like that, you don't smash it like it's nothing. I know that is in the past, but that pretty much turned my dislike almost into hatred. Just because someone doesn't like Kyle doesn't mean they are a JR fan. Like I said, I'm a fan of neither. I didn't say I hated JR, because he hasn't really done anything to make me hate him, but he just isn't my favorite. Just because he helps kids doesn't mean he is not arrogant. He may be a nice guy, but he is a jerk when he doesn't get his way. I just don't like that. |

Posted by: ì€ε on 2010-02-02, 08:59:44 Some will respect him and some will even grow to disrespect him more. That is something he brought on himself when he chose to take on the fans of Dale Jr. He actually took on Dale Jr fans and said he didn't like them so the feelings are mutual. He now just has to learn to be a man and accept the fact that he made his own bed. |

Posted by: THE BRAIN on 2010-02-02, 09:04:15 He deserves respect but everyone hates a winner. |

Posted by: Theda is happy on 2010-02-02, 09:21:07 I think there are many people who already respect him. |

Posted by: Rick31 on 2010-02-02, 09:33:54 Yes. If he stops acting like a spoiled punk, then people will respect him. Smashing guitars will not get him there. |

Posted by: Winter Glory on 2010-02-02, 09:45:09 They respect Tony Stewart...who was/ is 10 fold worse than Kyle. I mean seriously..Kyle doesn't want to talk to the media, he just walks away. Tony punched a reporter in the face one time. And knocked the camera out of the hands of another. Yet here we are..2010..and most NASCAR fans love ol' Smoke. So I'm gonna say..give it a decade..and he'll be loved, admired and respected. :) |

Posted by: XTREME on 2010-02-02, 10:30:10 Despite me not liking him, he has matured a lot since that incident. Now he hardly gets into stuff like that. People will respect him at one point, but just not at the moment. But Dale Jr. fans hate him to the bone right now because of that, but they should really get over it. |

Posted by: Jay on 2010-02-02, 10:31:45 Just about all successful Nascar drivers are quick to give to charity. Some do not want any recognition at all. Kyle has earned my respect. Any driver who can win 20 races in a single season gets my respect. I am looking forward to the time when he develops into a consistent threat at every track. |

Posted by: Hambone on 2010-02-02, 10:38:55 Any knowledgeable Nascar fan already has respect for him. He will grow on some of the others, then there will always be a few who will never like him. I didn't think much of the "breaking of the guitar " thing that he did at Nashville last year, but I'll bet if he ever wins there again he will not do that! He comes across to everyone as being a person who thinks he's the best at what he does. And I for one think that attitude, even if people don't like it, gives him an edge. You have to believe in yourself in order to be successful! |

Posted by: go4smoke on 2010-02-02, 11:11:00 Jrh88er, you continue to fixate on Dale Jr. as if he personally took a dump on your doormat. How can you seriously say that the fans disrespect Kyle Busch because of only ONE incident? You clearly have a selective memory, because the only incident you care to remember involves Dale Jr. That incident did not turn the fans against him. We have all lost count of Kyle's temper tantrums. Fans don't respect his lousy attitude, bad-mouthing his crew, baiting Jr's fans and refusing interviews when he comes in 2nd. Poor baby. The guitar bashing was just the cherry on top. Who can forget when Kyle won the first COT race at Bristol and had the balls to say the car "sucked " while still in Victory Lane? BIG balls. If Kyle wants to be respected, it's up to him, but he's made it abundantly clear that he doesn't care what the fans think. He needs to act like an adult, not a spoiled brat. He started showing some promise at the end of the season, but the jury's still out. We know that Joe Gibbs had a serious talk with him which is probably why he started "maturing " at the end of the season. We would like to give Kyle the benefit of the doubt and hope this mature attitude is the real deal. More fans would support Kyle Busch if only he'd just stop giving us reasons not to. |

Posted by: silverbullet on 2010-02-02, 11:46:09 Where's the fun in that? The sport needs villains as much as it needs idols. I'm sure I'd get along with the guy just fine in real life, but every race weekend I cheer for anyone who gives him the chrome horn. |

Posted by: JohnF on 2010-02-02, 11:47:53 Kyle is highly respected by adult Nascar fans, the kids out for snow days, people that are not knowledgeable of his ability and talent disapprove of him...he is what makes Nascar fun and interesting to watch...keep up the good work Kyle, know you could care less about your detractors..now don't forget, give the ladies the right of way.. |

Posted by: BIG DADDY on 2010-02-02, 11:49:16 The real question will Kyle ever respect the NASCAR fans ? If he wins a race he all smiles and talks to the media, but if he wrecks (which sometimes he may have caused) he runs off the track and doesn't talk to anybody. To me you can't have it both ways. If you want to strut your stuff when you win, be man enough and take your lumps when things don't go that well. Also the berating of the crew if the car is off is low class. I doubt the car is not performing due to a lack of hard work or effort on the team's part. Again I respect Kyle's talent and his ability and I'm sure he gives his time and money to worthy causes, but he also has some growing up to do. |

Posted by: jedi master on 2010-02-02, 12:26:01 I respect Kyle Busch now. He's a bit of a baby at times, and a one man show at others, but the man can drive and will soon be a champion. That, to me, deserves some respect. |

Posted by: Madame Lynn on 2010-02-02, 14:04:03 True NASCAR fans respect Kyle's talent, although maybe not his attitude. That's their right as true NASCAR fans. I haven't noticed anyone focusing on the Richmond spring race 2008, except internet trolls. It's called ancient history, and most fans have moved on. |

Posted by: Richard W on 2010-02-02, 15:38:09 I don't even know why I'm answering this, because you already have your mind made up.. I'm a Jr fan anyway, and you think you know why I don't like him.. I'm also a race fan since around when Elvis went into the army, and I've seen just about all of the greatest drivers in every kind of racing many times, in the past fifty years.. I've even known a few, and in all of my experience I've never seen a driver ever invited back to drive a car by an owner after acting like Kyle has JUST ONCE.. Leaving his car on the track?? Leaving the track before the team is done for the day?? What a jerk.. Talent?? Every guy in Cup has talent, and hundreds more all over the country, and most of them would be busy making their sponsors look good, and not driving all over the track like a fool trying to block Tony Stewart, of all people.. Oh, and that's another thing.. You can't compare the two.. Tony punched out a reporter, good for him.. I'd have done the same, and so would many others.. But Tony doesn't take anything out on his fans, or sponsors.. Or his teammates,, It seems like recent events regarding Kyle's contract extension talks, triggered an image makeover by Gibbs, and no doubt a warning about what will, and will not be tolerated, along with a list of "feel good " deeds he would be required to do, to help enhance his image.. Some people have been saying they want to see "feelings ", and "emotions " on the track, but one thing I have learned about those things, in regard to racing.. They don't go together at all.. They may both be factors that can make a race more entertaining from a fans point of view, but anyone who's ever had the opportunity to look into Dale Earnhardt's cold as steel, blue eyes knows that the greatest racers never let anything get to them.. It just makes you that much more vulnerable on the track, and that would never do... Forget Richmond a few years ago, and just look at Richmond this year.. Kyle had to beat three guys to make The Chase.. Kenseth beat himself, and so did Reutimann.. That left Brian Vickers.. All he had to do is beat Vickers by two spots.. Kyle got beat by a guy so bad, that if he hadn't been "locked " into 12th place, because of The Chase, he would have finished about 18th in points.. And that was a race that only had about three cars, out of forty three who were really racing.. It should have been a breeze.. The best racers can only beat themselves, nobody ever really beats them.. All you have to do to beat Kyle is piss him off, and that's too easy to do.. I'll never respect that.. |

Posted by: know it all on 2010-02-02, 15:47:05 Yes, kyle will earn respect. but his ignorant, whiney, pea brained so called fans never will. their bizarre, psychotic obsession with dale earnhardt jr. make them the object of pity, rather than respect. no offense to you of course kind sir. |

Posted by: Clint L Troll Eliminator on 2010-02-02, 17:20:32 Old time fans will remember that The Instigator crashed at least as many cars in his younger days, if not more, and even though he got a large percentage of his wins by spinning out the driver who was leading him, he is kind of respected now and even considered "great " by some. So if fans grew to accept rough-and-tumble Earnhardt, you can be sure they'll grow to respect Wild Thing. |
