Question: 2009 nascar cup series championship - kurt busch?

My pick for the 2009 Chase Championship is the #2 Blue Deuce of Kurt Busch. He won it once in 2004. According to statistics, as of the 17th race of the season, he has more wins, top 5's, top 10's, and has led more laps, than he did or had at the 17th race of the 2004 season. He is back on top in my eyes. I think this is how it will look at after Homestead- 1. Kurt Busch 2. Jimmie Johnson - 12 3. Tony Stewart - 30 4. Jeff Gordon - 102 5. Carl Edwards - 125 Give me your picks or top 5 Chase Standings guesses!! Thanks

1. Jimmie Johnson 2. Tony Stewart 3. Mark Martin 4. Jeff Gordon 5. Kyle Busch Jimmie has an awesome pit crew, not to mention crew chief. They rarely make mistakes and if they do Jimmie always makes a charge back to the front. Although he is not my favorite driver I respect how good/ talented the 48 team is all around. I would like to see him win 4 in a row!

Not sure about the top 5, but if Kurt is going to beat Stewart, he needs to step up his performance. Stewart always runs better the second half of the season, so look out. I agree that Kyle Busch may just get on a hot streak. Jeff Gordon usually fades away in the last 10 races, but we'll have to wait and see. Nobody in the Jack Roush camp right now looks tough enough to challenge the Hendrick cars, but that can change. Johnson is being pretty quiet right now, but I see him and Stewart fighting it out.

Kurt Busch has a good chance this year but he has to get on a roll at Chase time if he wants to win the championship. One driver who had a great year last year that I definitely wouldn't count out is Carl Edwards. He has been doing great lately and is right behind Kurt Busch in points but I think he is being overlooked just a little bit right now because he hasn't won yet this year. If Roush gets those new engines in time for the Chase, Carl Edwards could be a force to be reckoned with. 1. Carl Edwards 2. Jimmie Johnson 3. Tony Stewart 4. Greg Biffle 5. Jeff Gordon
