Posted by: Gorilla on 2006-09-27, 10:27:33 I think the last big name to switch from open wheel cars to stock cars is doing pretty well. I expect the same from Montoya. |

Posted by: mind_the_gap on 2006-09-26, 17:27:06 I hope so, I like Montoya and I think he'll be a great addition to NASCAR. |

Posted by: duane on 2006-09-26, 17:29:27 I don't know if he will do good, but I think he will do well. |

Posted by: hott.dawg™ on 2006-09-26, 18:51:38 Yes, I think he will win a race within a year. Thats more than I can say for about half the field. Now, will you answer my question too, please? answers.yahoo.com/ question/ index;_ylt= Av8cMoZbkRlzmJnqTuvGg.vsy6IX?qid= 20060926082449AAKXbvy |

Posted by: Matt M on 2006-09-26, 18:52:51 I think he will probably run around mid pack next year because he is still learning the cars/ driving style of nascar and because ganassi doesn't seem to have a great car this year. Then I think he will come into his own as the season goes on and will probably be better near the end of the season and going into next season. He just ran a test in ARCA series cars at talladega and set a lap time that would have qualified him 6th in the arca race whihc is impressive for someone who has little experience in stock cars. Although the arca series is a few steps below nextel cup. |

Posted by: ny21tb on 2006-09-26, 19:55:12 Switching from open wheel cars, to stock cars is a big change. He may not do so well in His first season but yes, I think He will eventually be o.k. He has the advantage of working with an owner that is familiar with Him, a big advantage in setting up the car. |

Posted by: Maradona Jr. on 2006-09-26, 21:43:02 In F1 he did a lot of mistakes in slow corners, I don't know much about Nascar but I think that Nascar doesn't have a lot of slow corners, so I think he will do well !!!! |
|
Posted by: Flip on 2006-09-27, 00:07:50 I think he will struggle. Stock cars are so much different than F1 cars and Ganassi doesn't have the best equipment right now. |

Posted by: rhonda3826 on 2006-09-27, 02:06:05 I think that he will..we have toyota in the series now, might as well include all foreigners while were at it..its really just all about the money..if he has a good sponser and owner, he will be good |

Posted by: rockpool248 on 2006-09-27, 03:21:38 He needs to be patient. He needs to listen to other people's advice. He needs to learn from his mistakes. He needs to work well with his team. He needs to adapt, adjust, and change his ways. He needs to work hard. Hmmm, he didn't do any of the above too well in F1...... Sure, the guy's got talent, but it takes a lot more than talent to succeed. |

Posted by: mcmurrayjamiefan on 2006-09-27, 05:18:40 I think Juan will be competitive. He won't be contending for wins for even the Top 10 for a while, but I think he will catch on. He isn't going to set the world on fire. One of his biggest disadvantages is his age. As far as learning to adjust to these heavier stock cars, the younger guys have an advantage because they don't have the years of experience in other cars. Juan isn't old by definition, but he has spent a lot of time in other types of cars. It will be interesting to see his progress, that's for sure. |

Posted by: carpediem602004 on 2006-09-27, 08:33:45 Alright, he is aggressive, arrogant, fast, knows how to drive a 4 wheel object with brakes, he is competitive, has talent, has the money behind him, is hard-headed (good and bad here) has a team willing to support him, and has been around the racing world for many, many years now. With all that said, why wouldn't he succeed in NASCAR? We are not talking F18 fighters vs. motorcycles. These are still cars, very different cars I agree, but after a bit of adjustment he will do just fine. Can he win a NASCAR championship? Too early to say. He has the genetic make-up to do it. Let's see how he progresses. He will do well, though (but give him time to adjust!!!!!). |

Posted by: K on 2006-09-27, 16:03:00 When he gets use to the stock cars he might but he probably should go to a different team to be competitive because Ganassi don't have the equipment to compete with the other teams. |

Posted by: kysteelgirl on 2006-09-28, 07:31:07 I hope not....if nascar continues to push mexicans & races in mexico them middle-class Americans would be stupid if they continue to support nascar!! |

Posted by: x3mtm on 2006-09-28, 07:40:39 Tony steward is good, isn't he? he came from an open wheel car, just like montoya...i think he might be the next start. chip ganassi might need to give him better equipment dou. |
